Curriculum

Nursery 1

Our teacher to child ratio for our Nursery 1 class is approximately 1 to 4. Daily reports are sent home with detailed information about your child’s day. The classrooms are equipped with a small refrigerator for storage, swings, exersaucers, activity mats and age appropriate toys. Tummy time, stroller time (when age appropriate) and music/song play are a part of their daily curriculum. A morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack, juice and milk are provided when age appropriate.

Nursery 2

Our teacher to child ratio for our Nursery 2 class is approximately 1 to 4. Circle time is introduced in this class. Children will learn basic sign language and begin recognizing shapes, and colors. Stroller time, music/song play and flash cards are a part of their daily curriculum. A morning snack, lunch and two afternoon snacks, juice and milk are provided.

Toddler 1 & Toddler 2

Our teacher to child ratio for our Toddler 1 & 2 classrooms is approximately 1 to 4. The Toddler 1 children engage in circle time, which includes sign language, flash cards, Bible stories, learning games, stroller time and developmental play. Our Toddler 2 class promotes growth of important developmental skills through hands on activities, learning centers and thematic units. A morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack, juice and milk are provided.

DC2 (Two Year Olds)

Our teacher to child ratio for DC2 is approximately 1 to 7. The ABEKA Curriculum is introduced in the two year old class. Children begin to learn how to count, color and number/letter recognition in a more structured environment. Children will begin to develop social skills and communication skills as well as continuing to use sign language. Bible stories, craft time and developmental play are a part of the every day circle time. Thematic units are taught during the summer months to continue the learning process. A morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack, juice and milk are provided.

DC3 (Three Year Olds)

Our teacher to child ratio for DC3 is approximately 1 to 11. The ABEKA Curriculum is continued in the DC3 class during the school year, from September through May. Children begin to develop writing, language and listening skills and how to follow directions. “Hands on” developmental play and arts and crafts are a part of their daily curriculum. A morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack, juice and milk are provided.

K4 (Pre-Kindergarten)

Our teacher to child ratio for K4 is approximately 1 to 16. The ABEKA Curriculum is continued through K4 during the school year, from September through May. We have implemented small groups format within the classroom to enhance learning. Children are on a twelve week progress schedule. Progress reports will be sent home indicating your child’s progress for the Scope and Sequence of that timeframe. Literacy, Activity & Thematic Centers, are used to reinforce the concepts taught in the curriculum. The children participate in chapel weekly and several in-house fieldtrips throughout the year. A morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack are provided. Children must be four years old by August 31st and have an acceptable score on the Brigance screening to be eligible for the K4 program.

Extra Curricular Activities

Here at KCCDC, we offer extracurricular activities your child can participate in. We partner with Corky Bell Dance Studio.
